Jiu Jitsu

​Jiu Jitsu is a martial arts founded in Japan known as the art of the Samurai but literally translated as "The Gentle Path".  There are many flavors of Jiu Jitsu with BJJ/Brazilian Jiu Jitsu being one of the most popular form of the art and know for its ability to allow a much smaller opponent to defeat a larger heavier one.

Jiu Jitsu is great for all ages no matter if you are large, small, male, female, kid or adult.  


Judo

Judo is a throwing based art from Japan.  The name Judo means "the gentle way" and is an Olympic sport taught in countries around the world as a sport as well as a martial art.  

Like the other grappling arts taught at Valhalla Judo also teaches joint locks and control techniques and emphasizes throws specifically with a jacket known as a Judogi.


Grappling and Ground Fighting

​Grappling and  ground fighting (also called ground work or ground game) are in-close fighting techniques used to gain a physical advantage and control, or causing injury to opponent. Grappling covers techniques used in many martial arts that are practiced both as combat sports and for self-defense.

Combat SAMBO

SAMBO is a Russian martial arts sometimes known as Russian Jiu Jitsu. The word "SAMBO" is an acronym for SAMozashchita Bez Oruzhiya, which literally translates as "self-defense without weapons".  

SAMBO merges wrestling, Judo, and Jiu Jitsu into one solid style of grappling.  Known for its specialties in throws and joint locks on the legs.

​It was intended to be a merger of the most effective techniques of other martial arts.
